Stretching for health

…is simple and important:  it improves flexibility, blood supply, joint condition and generally helps to ‘oil’ our body.  You don’t have to stretch for hours, not unless you are an athelete – Maria Sharapova is reputed to stretch for 45mins after every match – all that you need to do is get your body moving.

The most common question I get asked is ‘how long should I stretch?’.  There is no set time limit, you need to listen to your body.

Does it hurt to stretch out?  Then you have very tight muscles so start slowly, get to the point where you just feel the stretch, hold it there until you ‘feel’ the release and then extend the stretch a little bit more..and so on.

To maintain good health, it is imperative that you have a regular programme of stretching – click here for some examples.

Mary’s testimonial
“When I met Diksha I was in tears and said: I’m in pain; I slump and shuffle; I lack energy; I am depressed; my usual routine and each day is too much. At the mention of ‘exercises’ (stretches), ‘I can’t do them!’ I wailed, as in the past I had been given a 1hr routine by a physio, which I could absolutely not do and had only served to make my depression worse.”

“Diksha was firm, positive and reassuring. With her help I have put my horrid, stumbling situation behind me and have moved onto a new pathway: I now can move more easily; I can stand upright; my energy levels are increasing; my daily routine includes ‘my own stretches’ which I enjoy doing and I feel I AM LIVING AGAIN.”

“Thank you Diksha……!!!”
